Year 2 – Longridge C of E Primary School

Year 2

Welcome to Class 2 where we work hard, learn lots and have fun every day!

We are a hard-working class who listen to each other, always try our best and never give up. We take pride in being the oldest children in the infants who set a good example for the younger children every day.

On our Class Page you can find lots of useful information about life in Year 2 – what we are learning about, what you will need each day and important dates for the term.

On this page you will also find the link to our Class OneDrive folder which is where you will be able to find all of our homework.

Monday – Reading books are changed

Tuesday – PE

Wednesday – New homework added to the OneDrive folder

Thursday – Reading books are changed and PE

Every day – the children will need their water bottles, healthy snacks and reading books in school each day.

Please follow the link below to access our Homework OneDrive folder. Please follow the instructions each week to complete the homework. It does not need to be returned to school.

We will be going outside everyday so please make sure you send your child to school dressed appropriately for the weather. A waterproof coat is needed on wet days, warm coats with hats and gloves in winter and sun hats with sun cream during the hotter summer days.

What will we be learning?

Click on the link below to find out what we will be learning throughout the year

Class 2 Subject Timetable

This half term we will be learning…

English – In English we begin by exploring the world of Bedtime Stories, we will meet some cheeky characters who do not want to go to bed and we will even write our own bedtime stories. We will then write some superb Autumn Poems using our senses before learning all about the place where we live so we can write some Non-Chronological Reports all about Longridge.

Maths – We are going to be doing lots of work on number this term – counting, ordering, partitioning, adding and taking away.

Science – We begin by learning all about Every day Materials – what things are made from, their properties and whether they are natural or man made.

Geography – Where do we live? There are many answers to this question. We begin by thinking about our towns and villages and move on to learning all about our county and country before expanding to the rest of the world!

PE – We start with one of my favourite games units based all around traditional playground games. There is lots of focus on the basic skills of running, jumping, hopping, throwing and catching.

RE – Our first RE unit sees us learning all about the Bible. We think about why it is such a special book, find out how we read one and share some of our favourite Bible stories.

Wednesday 2nd September – Children return to school
