Welcome to Class 2 where we work hard, learn lots and have fun every day!
We are a hard-working class who listen to each other, always try our best and never give up. We take pride in being the oldest children in the infants who set a good example for the younger children every day.
On our Class Page you can find lots of useful information about life in Year 2 – what we are learning about, what you will need each day and important dates for the term.
Monday – Homework returned to school and reading books changed
Tuesday – PE
Wednesday – New homework is sent home and one colour team will do Show & Tell
Thursday – Reading book are changed
Friday – Library books are changed
Every day – the children will need their water bottles, healthy snacks and reading books in school each day.
Please make sure you send your child to school dressed appropriately for the weather. A waterproof coat is needed on wet days, warm coats with hats and gloves in winter and sun hats with sun cream during the hotter summer days.
What will we be learning?

This half term we will be learning…
English – We have begun the year with our Bedtime Stories unit and will be writing our own stories set in a familiar setting. We will then move onto writing some non-chronological reports based on our town of Longridge before we write some poems based on the season on Autumn.
Maths – We are continuing to follow the Maths – No Problem scheme of work this year. The children are all working really hard this half term on their number work with particular focus on place value, ordering numbers, addition and subtraction.
Science – This half term we are learning all about materials in science, their similarities and differences, what they are used for and their properties.
Geography – Our Geography unit for this half term is ‘Where Do I Live?’ We are going to be finding out all about the small town that we live in before finding out about our country and then the wider world.
PE – In PE this half term we are focusing on a games unit based around old fashioned playground games. If you have any games that you used to play when you were younger I am sure the children would love to learn them!
RE – We are learning all about our special books and the Bible in our RE this half term. The children will be asked to bring in their special books from home to share with us before we learn all about our special holy book. We will also be having a look at special books from other religions.
